Adoption Process – What to Expect?
Thank you for considering adopting from us! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and have received age/weight appropriate vaccines plus flea/tick preventatives. We are foster-based – all of our animals are located in private homes, so only approved adopters will be invited to meet the animals.
After filling out an application, you should receive an acknowledgment that your application was received within 24 hours. You will hear from us if we need any additional information within a week. To avoid delays, please answer all the questions thoroughly. If you rent, you must provide your landlord contact information – we cannot adopt to renters without their landlord/management consent.
We will be contacting your vet! Please make sure that they have your permission to discuss your current pets’ medical records with us. We generally want to know if your pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and receive veterinary care.
We will also contact you with additional questions, and to discuss any questions you may have. (Please make sure that your phone allows calls/texts from unknown numbers!) We may also call your personal references. After your application have been approved, you will be notified, and someone will be in touch shortly to set up an appointment to meet the animal and to discuss adoption process with you.
If your application is rejected, please do not take it personally! We make these decisions with the best interest of the animal in mind – and when we receive multiple qualified applications, we make the decision based on what we believe would be the best match, NOT first come-first served basis. If you indicated that you are interested in other adoptable animals, we will let you know as soon as we receive any animals matching your preferences.
